The Oklahoma City Thunder have punched their ticket to their second NBA finals appearance in franchise history after defeating Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves in a 4-1 dismantling as MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander looks to earn much awaited glory for OKC.

With a roster oozing with talent, and a heap of future draft picks ready to strengthen the team even more, OKC will have their sights set on being the next big dynasty in the NBA, and could be the new generations Golden State Warriors.

Throughout the mid 2010s and early 2020s, future hall of famer Steph Curry and his Golden State Warriors have dominated the western conference, winning the coveted Larry O’Brien championship four times since 2015. But with Golden State aging, and their half a decade dynasty behind them, OKC look like they could be the next powerhouses of the west, and will be a difficult team to slow down.

With newly crowned league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his supporting cast looking dominant over three rounds in the playoffs, they are showing signs of the old Golden State, and with a team average age of only 24 years old, the team dominance at such a young team age is a sight to be scared of for the rest of the league, and the memories of the old Golden State teams may be reignited within the OKC team.

Although they have a big finals series on their hands against either the Knicks or the Pacers to shower themselves in NBA glory for the first time in franchise history, OKC have already proven their dominance in the postseason, and with much more to come and to add alongside Jaylen Williams, SGA, and Chet Holmgren, it is easy to predict how dominant they will be for the next few years.

And unlike those who are challenging in the west such as Minnesota, LA, and Denver, OKC have already reached their peak with such a young core, and will only continue to get better, the exact formula Golden State used during their dynasty.

But with an abundance of talent, form like no other, and a young core which will only get better, it is easy to see how well OKC can be in a couple of years, and isn't crazy to assume they could be in the exact same situation, if not better next season. As one of the scariest teams will challenge to win their first ever Championship in franchise history, the Oklahoma City Thunder may have synthesised the perfect team, built for the perfect dynasty, and a reincarnation of the blue and gold of the Warriors, may be on the horizon or the Thunder in the blue and orange.
