One again the Baltimore Ravens post season was halted putting an end to their Super Bowl hopes again last season, another gut wrenching ending means something has to change for Baltimore, and for next season, it could be up to two young stars to elevate their games to the next level, and could be vital for their success next season. Isaiah Likely, and Zay Flowers.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has had some amazing targets over the years, and has consistently good painting s across the receiving and tight end cores, but now, two young starlets are ready to open a new chapter in Baltimore, but it is vital they unlock the next level next season, and take that much needed step to superstar status to give the Ravens their best chances.
Likely, who has been in the league for three seasons behind starting tight end Mark Andrews was a fourth round selection back in 2022, but last season showed signs of a pending breakout, and with some eye catching play across the season, his stats don't 100% reflect the impact he really had, but it is obvious there is a higher level he can definitely reach. Ending the year with 477 total yards and six touchdowns, Likely was often a consistent target for Jackson, and with Andrews’ responsibilities and role decreasing, Likely may be the starting tight end, and will be the perfect opportunity to prove himself, and had the Ravens be looking to finally get over their postseason hump, Likely improvement will have to come fast, and whether he can push his abilities to the next step is vital for the production of the Ravens offense.
But aside from Likely, a player who really needs to elevate his game, and prove he can be the X-factor receiver for Baltimore is former first round pick Zay Flowers. Last season Flowers really took a massive step in his sophomore year, and proved he has much more to give, and how he is nowhere near his ceiling yet. 1,059 receiving yards, nine touchdowns, and zero fumbles showed that Flowers has the ability to meet expectations, and with improvement expected next season, there is no doubt that amongst their current receiver room that Flowers can be the next big superstar for Baltimore. We have seen in the past that a little bit of maturing and keeping poised is exactly what Flowers needs to brush up on to be considered a top NFL wide receiver, and next season, a breakout looks imminent, and had both these potential superstars breakout, the Ravens offense will be moving like a well oiled machine.
It is easy to say these guys will have masses of improvement heading into next year, but it is definitely still in the unknown. With both having to take on massive roles next year, pressure and expectation is just something that will come with their new roles. But, if the next step is taken, it could be something very dangerous for Baltimore, and could finally be the recipe for success they have been searching for, for years.
