The New York Jets are now the only winless team in the NFL, and it is another horrible start to the season for former first round pick Justin Fields. After securing the starting job in New York following the departure of Aaron Rodgers, a tough 0-4 start as a starter isn’t exactly what Justin Fields may have had in mind for his statement season, and it could be his last chance at keeping a starting job in the NFL.

It is no secret that the New York Jets really haven’t improved under new head coach Aron Glenn, and after hopes that former top 10 pick Justin Fields could bring them back to playoff contention, it just hasn’t panned out. Fields is a known elite rushing QB in the NFL, and has showcased that as his main selling point and talent over his five seasons in the NFL, however his passing game is still out of touch, and that could cost him massively in the future.

Having a career completion percentage of 61.6%, and 8,534 passing yards from 755 completions, Fields’ passing game is way off the mark, and despite his second to none rushing game, you can only get so far by holding the ball. His rushing stats speak for themselves, 2,713 yards from 449 carries, including 22 rushing TD’s, Fields has become a household name when it comes to carrying the ball, but as a so-called dual threat QB he is way off it.

This season alone, his chemistry with the likes of Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard hasn’t been great, and four passing TD’s have highlighted that. Across all major QB stats including passer rating, yards, and passing touchdowns, Fields is amongst some of the worst in the league, however one stat really shows the improvement he has had in the passing game. 0 interceptions so far has shown his game has matured a lot since being a rookie, and he isn't a dangerous QB, however from what we see on field, it is no surprise given the little risk he takes when passing.

Fields was and still could be a decent starting QB, however with what he has shown so far as the starting QB for a team who really needed to improve isn’t convincing. The stats aren’t there, and the performances haven’t been great, and having only signed a one year deal in New York, who knows where he may end up next year, and if he will ever earn a serious starter's job again.
