Things Go From Bad To Worse For The Leafs Following Woll Injury

The Toronto Maple Leafs are struggling enough as it is so far this season, and having already lost Anthony Stolarz to injury, Joseph Woll their backup has now been placed on injury reserve, and will no longer be available for the Leafs for an undisclosed amount of time. If fans thought things couldn’t get any worse for the Leafs, they just did.

The Leafs are a team who literally cannot catch a break this season, and their massive pileup of key injuries isn’t helping at all. With Anthony Stolarz sidelined, it was Joseph Woll’s turn to shine after returning from a short period of absence, but now, the Leafs goalie tandem has never looked so weak, and it is another massive burden the Leafs are going to have to play through for the time being.

As of right now, the Leafs currently have Dennis Hildeby and Artur Akhtyamov as their two starting tenders, not the ideal situation at all. For a team who have lacked in offensive production for a solid part of the season so far, outsourcing is going to be a real issue, and now with two minor league level goalies, it will be an even tougher task to get back on terms with the competition.

With Montreal and Tampa Bay up next for the Leafs, their position in the East could be in danger of being even worse, and their defense is going to have to perform to elite levels over the next few games. As far as stepping up goes, it is massive for the two young leafs goalies to step up now, and for their season it is vital they make good impressions.
