Tough times just seem to be getting tougher for Arteta and Arsenal fans after the news broke that striker Kai Havertz will be out for the remainder of the season with a serious hamstring injury.

But here’s why Arsenal have only themselves to blame.

Despite still sitting in a decent position in the title race, Arsenal aren't making it easy for themselves after yet another demoralising injury hits the squad. Kai Havertz, who has been playing as Arsenal’s sole number nine for the last 2 seasons suffered a hamstring injury during a training camp in Dubai which ultimately ended his season. But that's not where the issues lie for Arsenal. With Gabriel Jesus out for the season with a torn ACL, and Martinelli and Saka both suffering with injuries, Arsenal find themselves with only two senior attackers left in the squad.

Loanee Raheem Sterling, and Leandro Trossard are the only two attackers Arsenal currently have at their disposal, and are once again suffering from their inability to bring in a real number nine in either the summer or January. After offloading any real cover they had in the Summer being Nketiah, the harsh reality for Arsenal is that they haven't managed their personnel well enough, and have shot themselves in the foot.

Leaving their attack in the hands of what's likely to be youth team players, scattered with a few veterans, it doesn't look good for Arsenal in their bid for the title, and once again highlights how their inconsistency to buy will be the reason for their downfall.

The reality for Arsenal is that they have not prepared well enough for situations quite like these. Similarly to when Odegaard was injured, the inability to fill his spot was causing a clear lack of chance creation, and attacking threat, and was a big problem for the Gunners, much like it will now. Fans have been screaming out for at least the last year and a half for the Gunners to pick up a real striker, somebody who can be the final piece of the puzzle they need to win the league, but their safe approach to the last few windows may have really cost them in the later stage of this season.
