The Two Main Options For The Dolphins At QB Next Season

The reshaping of the Miami Dolphins franchise is in full flow now with Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb both being released clearing up masses of cap space and it is likely that during the summer the Dolphins will release former top five draft pick quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will be traded as the team enters a new phase under new management and coaching. The offseason will come with massive choices to be made for Miami, and it looks like there are two clear options for the Fins in the QB department next year.

There will be masses of young and experienced QB’s available this offseason, and at this moment in time, it looks vital that the Dolphins get it right and select the right one come the free agency market. Two names which instantly pop out are Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals, and Malik Willis formerly of the Green Bay Packers, and despite many others looking for new opportunities, it looks like Murray and Willis are the two most realistic options.

With how things have gone with Kyler Murray in Arizona, and how last season unfolded, it looks the likely outcome is that his time is at and down by the border, and despite showing flashes of brilliance over his 6 years in the NFL, a change of scenery looks necessary. Murray is a guy who offers a lot, he is a dual threat, and could well get his career back on track in Miami, the price won’t be too high for the Dolphins, his contract isn’t crazy, and the potential is still 100% there, and a move for him definitely could be on the cards.

Over the last five years the Dolphins have clearly lacked a dynamic force with Tua doing the steering, and that is something Murray could offer. Speed, explosiveness, and the ability to make game changing plays, given he is on the right side of the injury report. However Murray is a risk, his injury history isn’t great, and it looks like he may have hit a glass ceiling where he is at right now, and with no guaranteed improvement, that is where getting a guy like Malik Willis could come into play, and taking a chance on a guy who has definitely deserved it could be the ballsy play Miami need to take.

When called upon during Green Bay’s injury crisis last season, Willis put up some very good numbers, and put his name in the ring as one of the more interesting QB’s on the market come the offseason. Drafted back in 2022, Willis was one of the many in the misfit QB class of ‘22, and despite being a second string for the course of his short career, Malik Willis still has bags of talent that he just hasn’t been able to showcase, and Miami may have themselves a very good opportunity on their hands. He will hit the market, and teams will be after him, however Miami and Willis just fit the bill the best, Willis is looking for an opportunity at a place that needs a QB, and Miami is looking to take a punt on a guy who could have bags of potential, and Willis is that guy.

Miami has massive decisions ahead, and has QB issues in abundance, however with the options ahead, Willis looks intriguing, and has a lot to offer given what was promised out of college. Murray is established, and could emerge as the guy he once was in a new uniform, but the two options are there, and they seem the only viable two but it is vital that the Fins get it right.
