Could The World Cup Be The Last Place We Ever See Neymar Play?

Neymar Jr, a one of a kind player who has inspired more people than you can imagine. His skill, his flair, and his image has led millions of young kids to be like him, play like him, and want to grow up to be like him, but for the newer generation, all they are seeing is an injury prone, Brazilian league player, and the 2026 World Cup could be the last place we ever see him play.

In terms of football history, Neymar will go down as one of the best players of all time, and as far as 2010 footballers go, he is one of the best. Playing alongside Messi, Suarez, and hundreds more amazing players, Neymar was always the standout guy. He has won Champions Leagues, he was once the most expensive player in football, but never reached heights people may have expected him to.

One thing Neymar never achieved was the Balon D’or, but in his mind, the one thing he truly never succeeded in was his international career. He has played in World Cups, Copa America’s, every major international tournament you can think of, but major success has never come, and with his recent injury issues, the 2026 World Cup may not just be his last time to earn international glory, but the last time he may ever play football again.

Another injury while playing over in Brazil for boyhood club Santos means the recovery and rehab is vital coming towards the summer, and if he wants to play in the World Cup, let alone even make Ancelotti’s team, he is going to have to do everything in his power to get there. It is fair to say he isn’t playing his best football, his spark has gone, and the competition he is playing too is really not the best, but a Brazil team without Neymar doesn't seem right, and one last dance is in order for the great.

Neymar is a player who was tipped to be the next Ronaldinho, the next Kaka, but he has written a new script for himself, a script that people will be saying ‘you’re the next Neymar’ in five years time. Despite where he is playing now, and how little Neymar is recognised, this 2026 may be the time for him to give worldwide fans one last show, and with how things are looking physically for him, the tournament could be the cherry on top of a very iconic cake.
