After a trifecta of outstanding goals by Luis Enrique’s PSG against Aston Villa on Wednesday, it seems like they have bought some much needed creativity back to our beloved game. With the days of Mbappe, Messi, and Neymar behind them, and the robotic style of play implemented by Pochettino and Galtier, Luis Enriques and the newly decorated PSG dressing room, is showing why they can not only be the best team in the world, but the most entertaining team in the world.

In this era of football, creative and uniquely skilled wingers are scarce, but watching PSG across the course of the year has proven there is still light at the end of the tunnel for creative football. New deadly duo, Desire Doue, and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia have taken their individualistic style of play, and fit like a glove in Enrique’s new system.

Luis Enrique has worked with some of the most creative football players in the world, Neymar, Messi, Pedri, and hundreds more, but this year he may have found two of his best ever. Bringing in Doue and Kvaratskhelia across the two transfer windows were bold moves to replace the former world beating trio, but within the first four months of his time in Paris, the two have really lit up the Ligue 1, and the Champions League.

The lack of crafty and exciting wingers worries the world of football, robotic and system based play overtaking the creativity and natural ability of these players, but Kvaratskhelia and Doue have reignited a fire that was slowly going out. Their goals last night against Aston Villa in the Champions League highlight why they should be in the conversation of the best players in the league, especially Doue showcasing his raw talent at only 19 years old on the world stage.

But it is not only wingers and playmakers who have brought the creative spark back to the Parc De Princes, but the midfielders, strikers, and the overall system of the team. The tiki-taka style, the fluidity and individualism in midfield is why PSG are a breath of fresh air to football fans. The smooth and silky ball movement, and natural ability to receive and play the ball across the pitch in hundreds of different ways is why PSG are probably the most enjoyable team to watch as a whole right now. In a world of boring and programmed wingers, Luis Enrique and PSG, have brought back the way football should really be played.
