Has The Premier League Become Too Boring?

With only a few games left to be played in the Premier League season, and not much left to play for after Liverpool secured their league title last Sunday, the Premier League run in only seems to be getting more and more boring as time goes on.

We can only think back to the days when the title race would go down to the final day of the season, and the relegation battles could involve a plethora of different teams. But as time has gone on and how the game has evolved, the run-in has become more boring than ever as teams already face their relegation fate, and league title glory weeks before the end.

With this year's Premier League season seeing both the league winners and the three teams relegated with four weeks to go, the only excitement left in this year's Premier League campaign is both the Champions League, and Europa League races as a good bunch of teams are still fighting for their European spot. 

Despite those like Newcastle, Villa, and Nottingham Forest all in a heated battle for a spot in Europe, the excitement and buzz around the race for the league title, and the nail biting feeling for fans who could face or defeat relegation is already gone. The days when the teams who could be relegated face the teams who could win the league are gone, and as money and the gap in talent becomes larger and larger, the old school relegation battles we once knew and loved may never be seen properly again.

Which raises the question, is the Premier League too boring, and do the same outcomes every year make it a stale, and monotone league? With the top six barely changing, those sitting around 10th to 15th often being the same crowd, and the teams who earn promotion effectively facing relegation from the get go, the Premier League has become too repetitive, but the repetition has gotten fans too comfortable to realise the league is missing the magic it once had.
