Nashon Wright had yet another very impressive performance last night in the Bears triumphant victory over the Super Bowl champion Eagles, and is making a very good impression in his contract year.

For the Bears they are probably one of the most injury plagued teams that the NFL has seen so far this season, whether it is the secondary, or linebackers, they have had more than their fair share of injuries. One area which they struggled a lot with during the start of the season was the cornerback position, with key pieces like Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon missing due to injury, it was vital that their backups and new additions had to step up in order to be a functional secondary.

Two of the players who have impressed the most for the Bears are free agent pick up CJ Gardner-Johnson, and Nashon Wright who they signed to a one year deal during the offseason. Gardner-Johnson is a player who brought the vicious tackling to the team during their mass injury woes, but it is 27 year old Wright who has really been the shining star defensively for the Bears.

This year the Bears have arguably been the best team in the league when it comes to takeaways, and a lot of that defensive success has to come down to Nashon Wright’s clutch plays. Currently Wright is tied for the second highest number of interceptions across the league with 5, and is trailing only Bears teammate Kevin Byard. Wright is not just a phenom when it comes to picking off the ball, but his efforts last night on the blitz and forcing vital fumbles saw him have probably his best game of the season so far, and is becoming one of the more important and most loved players for the Bears.

The former 2021 third round pick is having a career year with the Bears, and after only signing a one year deal, expected to be a backup or even just a practice squad player, Wright is well on his way to earning a massive deal in Chicago, and he is a guy that they will want to put open to paper as soon as. Whether it is a short term deal to keep him around during their current injury woes, or if it is a deal that makes him a first name on the team sheet type of guy, Nashon Wright has done everything right to cement his place in this team, and with a playoff charge on the way, he is only going to get even better.
