The 2024 NFL draft class saw some elite level wide receivers enter the league, like Jacksonville’s Brian Thomas Jr, New York’s Malik Nabers, and the most hyped of them all, Arizona’s Marvin Harrison Jr, son of NFL, and Colts legend Marvin Harrison. But with the expectations through the roof for the number four overall pick out of Ohio State, and excitement over the Cardinals new number one wide receiver, the 2024/25 season didn't give us the best of Marvin Harrison Jr, but 2025 may need to be.

The 2024 wide receiver class was one of the best in recent years. With Washington State’s Rome Odunze, LSU’s Malik Nabers, and Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr, the league was destined for some new stars in the receiver category, and Harrison was set to be the most fulfilling, and exciting of all.

Being drafted at number four, he was an amazing addition for Kyler Murray who had been struggling with no solid WR1, but after the MHJ acquisition, the team looked like it was ready for a new level of offense. But as the season went on, Harrison didn't put up the performances or numbers everyone was expecting.

The 2024/25 saw Harrison finish with 62 receptions for 885 yards, and eight touchdowns, an underwhelming season for a number one receiver recruit, from the best college programme in football. But as Kyler Murray begins to walk on a thin line, and doubts over his ability to be the QB1 in Arizona, it is on Harrison to put Kyler Murray in the spotlight, and to be the true wider receiver he was in college, and prove that he in fact was the best of his class.

With those such as Brian Thomas Jr, and Malik Nabers already solidifying themselves as some of the best receivers in the league in their rookie year, Harrison only has more to prove, and with pressure mounting, and questions over his ability to play in the NFL, the 2025/26 season may be his breakout year, and may be the year the Cardinals see a great wide receiver in the State Farm Stadium since the great Larry Fitzgerald.

However with the off season looking like a massive one for MHJ, his strength and built up frame compared to his rookie year is looking much more promising, and could be used to further his game even more in his sophomore season. With pressure on him to provide for the team, and be the man they were all promised in Arizona, and pressure to make Kyler Murray, and the rest of his team good during a period where the Cardinals haven't exactly been world beaters, Marvin Harrison Jr looks like he could be up for a monster season in terms of stats, and could be the breakout year we have all been waiting on for the former five star ranked, generational receiver.
