The 24th of May 2025 will be a day to remember for both Sunderland and Aberdeen fans as both earn jubilation with promotion to the Premier League, and winning the Scottish Cup for the first time in almost 40 years. The scenes and celebrations at both ends of the UK will be non stop throughout the night, which will be a day fans across the country will never forget.

The celebrations in Glasgow and London both started early as fans in red and white stripes made the journey down to London, and fans dressed in the famous Aberdeen red took to Glasgow. As Sunderland aimed to earn promotion back to the Premier League after some grueling years in League one and the Championship following back to back relegations, they have found their team finally reach the Prem after a sublime comeback against Sheffield United. Hero Tom Watson who will leave Sunderland at the end of the season scored a thrilling 95th minute winner for Sunderland, the deciding goal to fulfil the dream Sunderland fans could only ever have imagined. And it was goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov who saved two poor Celtic penalties to win his team the Scottish Cup, and earn them a spot in the Europa League.

As Aberdeen fans watched their team take down the Scottish giants which are Celtic, and Sunderland fans watched their team deny Sheffield United yet another playoff final win, the 10th playoff deficit in their history.

With new beginnings ahead, and some unwritten stories still to be written, and dreams to come true for both sides, who knows what's to come for both teams. With doors opening left, right, and centre for new opportunities for both legendary clubs, today could be a day to look back on in the future for both.
