With the massive blow of losing Triumph Hurdle favourite Narciso Has for the Willie Mullins and JP McManus team, the market has blown wide open for competitors, and with this year's renewal now set to be an extremely deep and competitive race, trials day winner Maestro Conti could have a massive say in delivering Triumph Hurdle success for Dan and Harry Skelton.

With the trainers championship[ well in his sights, Dan Skelton heads to the Cheltenham Festival next week with some very good chances, one including Maestro Conti in the Triumph Hurdle, a horse he believes is one of his best chances. The four year old is unbeaten so far in his career wearing the Sir Alex Ferguson colours, and with two wins under his belt in the UK this season, as well as a win over in France while in training with Noel George, his chances at winning the Triumph have now increased massively with the injury setback to former favourite Narciso Has, and he definitely has every chance come next Friday.

Having to line up against supposed rivals such as Willie Mullins’ Proactif and Selma De Vary, Gordon Elliots Mange Tout, and a massive field of other very interesting horses, it won’t be an easy task for Dan and Harry Skelton to bring home Triumph hurdle success, however the form is there, and he has enough talent to deemed a very worthy and dangerous competitor.

Given the ground comes up its usual good-to-soft, it is likely to be massive for a horse like Maestro Conti, a course and distance winner who raced very keenly last time out, and some quicker ground could play to his strengths. Having won easy in his first start at Kempton, a very impressive display at Cheltenham trails day put him well in the running for the Triumph, and having shown a very impressive performance against the likes of One Horse Town and Minella Yoga, there is no knocking this horse, and he looks to have a live chance.

Currently priced at 6/1 prior to declarations, Dan and Harry 100% have a better chance than advertised in the market. At the Festival course experience is massive, and there is no better experience for a horse than winning a trial race in a very impressive style. With a little more comfort in the race, and a sweet patient ride by Harry Skelton, replicating his trials day performance will ensure he is a big player in the race, and being one of the biggest progressors in the race, Maestro Conti is a massive name to not for the Triumph Hurdle.
