Thomas Frank Next In Line At Crystal Palace?

The news broke this morning that Thomas Frank has been relieved of his duties as Tottenham Hotspur manager after another disappointing Premier League loss at home to Newcastle last night. Frank, who took the Spurs job over the summer, was one of the hottest coaches on the market, and now finds himself back on the market, and another London job seems likely next season.

For Frank it may have been a case of the lights were too bright, or simply just a case of the job was too tough, however, aside from his struggles with Tottenham there is no forgetting what he did and achieved with Brentford, and a number of Premier League teams will be looking to pounce next season.

One club in particular who will in fact be looking for a new manager come the summer time is Crystal Palace, and with Frank’s best looking to come with lesser clubs, Palace look the obvious answer, and it seems like the perfect match. With Oliver Glasner already leaving for a new club next season, the door is already wide open for Frank, and his style of play, and former managerial credentials are something that could thrive at Palace, and looks more likely than ever.

It may have been the pressure or handling of world class players which was the issue for Frank, and a job like Palace with a lot less pressure, a lot less workload, and a much wider opportunity for change and improvement with time looks ideal. Frank achieved great things with Brentford because he wasn’t under copious amounts of pressure, the team knew him and his style of play, and it was a simplified version that just won’t cut it with the bigger clubs.

With the talent Palace already have, and the system they have already had embedded by Oliver Glasner, Frank looks like the perfect transition piece for the reigning FA Cup champions, and unlike Palace, there would be too many changes to make in the early days. Frank is a manager who has proven himself at that level, and despite his failure at Spurs, he is a manager who can still go on to do great things, and won’t be available for long. Palace looks the worthy option, and it looks the only sensible option for both parties.
