Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has pointed out his desire to have cornerback Quinyon Mitchell play both sides of the ball, extending his cornerback talents to the wide receiver position. He has said he has already tried Mitchell at the WR position in training camp, and is not far off from potentially lining up next to some of the league's best receivers next year for Philly in the title defense, but how good can he really be as a dual threat?

After starting all 16 games last season, totalling 46 tackles, 12 blocked passes, and 2 interceptions (both postseason), he also earned himself a Super Bowl ring as a vital part of the Eagles triumph as a rookie, and is showering hopes of being one of the best corners in the league this coming season. But, his speed, agility, and offensive knack has highlighted to DC Vic Fangio that in the modern day NFL, he could be a worthy asset on both sides of the field. Although his amount of interceptions over the season were not beamingly impressive, his hands were a proven asset in his college career, and could earn himself a few reps on the offense next year.

The Eagles offense is already stacked with receiving talent, DeVonta Smith, AJ Brown, and Dallas Goedert being the big three targets for Jalen Hurts’ offense, not to mention the receiving talent they have in Saquon Barkley, but a wildcard like Mitchell may be the dynamic element they need in their Super Bowl defending season.

Mitchell impressed a lot in his rookie year, pairing up with fellow rookie Cooper DeJean as the Eagles fully reinvented their secondary, but now, Mitchell has earned more responsibilities, and may have been granted a chance at showing how good of a dual threat he can be. The NFL is starting to see a massive influx of dual threat talent in the league, number two overall pick Travis Hunter being the most notable of all, but Mitchell who already has a solid season under his belt may find the transition easy, and could battle with the likes of Hunter straight off the rip next season.

Even if Mitchell does earn a lot of reps on the offense next season, he wont be the star studded receivers who rack up receiving yards, and made mesmerizing catches like AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, but he will add a unique spin on the offense, and may be a secret piece of the puzzle which could elevate their dangerous offense even more, and a little bit of variety and flair could be a massive addition for Philly.
