Will The Canadian Olympic Team Be Better in 2030 Than It Is Now?

For the first time since 2014, NHL superstars have taken over the Olympic Ice Hockey stage, and with how stacked both Canada and the United States roosters are, among the other nations stacked with talent, the question is how much better can the teams get, especially Canada. Come 2030 at the next Olympic games, could Canada be better than they already are?

Right now there probably is no better lineup than Canada’s Olympic roster. Including first overall picks like Nathan MacKinnon, Connor McDavid and Macklin Celebrini, along with all time legends like Sidney Crosby, it looks like a tough task making a roster as good as this one in the future, however with how Canada could be looking in only four years time, it is very realistic that they could get even better.

With players such as former first overall pick Connor Bedard and Matthew Schaefer not even cracking the roster this year, it is crazy to think how good they already are they could be even better by 2030. Especially with generational players like Keaton Verhoeff, Gavin McKenna, Maddox Schultz, and many others in the pipeline over the next four years, the next Canadian Olympic team could be one of the best ever, and it is a scary thought for their international rivals.

Think in four years time, guys like McDavid, MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Celebrini will all still be around, and to think their depth will get even better is something every hockey fan should look forward to seeing, and is already something fans should be getting excited about. Who knows how good these young guys can be given the fact none of them have ever played an NHL game, and given how unsuccessful they ended up being at the World Juniors last year, you could say the future isn’t as bright as it looks, but with some NHL experience under their belts, and four years of elite improvement, Canada’s young pipeline looks the best in the world, and their teams will only continue to get better.

This question gets asked every year, it happened in 2014 when MacKinnon and McDavid were around, and it happened in 2010 when Stamkos was the hottest kid on the block, but this year it is different. It has been a long time since Canada had future number one projected picks in consecutive years. They already had Bedard, the Celebrini, now Schaefer, and next year McKenna, and it doesn't end there. The future is bright, and although they are a wagon right now, Canada will continue to get better. Respective nations have young power and bright futures, but none as good as Canada.
