Ravens' Revamped Secondary Could Be Key to Finally Ending Playoff Struggles

It is hard to put a finger on one key reason why the Ravens can’t seem to get over their playoff woes in the last couple of seasons, with a mix of bad penalties, and unlucky drops, the Ravens seem to have put a finger on what they believe has been a key factor for their problems, and have upgraded that area substantially this offseason.

The secondary is arguably one of the most pressure filled areas on the field during the NFL playoffs, with pressure to block passing lanes, and intercept dangerous throws, the Ravens seem to believe their secondary needed a little bit of housekeeping this year, and have added some really effective pieces to make sure their secondary is in tip-top shape.

Despite having two exceptional pieces already in Marlon Humphrey and Kyle Hamilton, adding star Malaki Starks in the draft in what could be seen as a steal of the draft in a few years to come, and earlier today signing former All-Star Jaire Alexander to a one year $6 million deal was definitely a statement for fans to see. Alexander who is still up there for one of the best corners in the league, and Starks who has bags of potential and could transition into one of the NFL’s next best safety’s could be the spark the Ravens need to progress even further.

When playoff season comes around every year for the Ravens, it is star QB Lamar Jackson and his offensive cast who are often the scapegoats and easy targets for blame, Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews being the two most recent, but now with sneaky additions to an already strong secondary, it may be an area they didn't know needed that much work.

But now with Alexander, Starks, Hamilton, and Humphrey spread across the field, locking down receivers, and staying on top of things defensively during the most pressure-filled situations may not be a problem anymore for Baltimore, and come next January could prove to be the hole they didn't know needed such a big fix.
