Earlier today, All-Star linebacker Khalil Mack signed a one year $18 million deal to return to LA and resign with the Chargers, but after turning 34 years old last month, and much deliberation over his retirement, does this deal indicate its his last dance in the NFL?

The doubts over whether Mack would return were silenced earlier after he resigned for another year in LA, but with the structure of the deal only being a one year agreement, Mack’s decade old NFL career could be coming to a close. With LA looking to once again reach the playoffs, bringing a player like Mack back was a smart deal, especially at $18 million given their massive $90 million cap space, but it could well be the final dance for Mack, but will continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the 2025/26 season.

Mack who is a nine time pro bowler was deliberating his future heavily before resigning for LA, but one last push may be on the horizon as at the end of the season turning 35, and his salary ask still bound to be at a premium, Mack’s longevity may be at a close.

With no long term deal on the horizon for the former defensive player of the year, Mack may decide to call it quits next year, but there is still a chance he could sign a one to two year deal elsewhere. But with the one year deal being all he could bargain for this offseason, it looks like his demand will continue to decline towards the end of the season, and Khalil Mack’s legendary time in the NFL may end as soon as the end of the 2025/26.
