Why Being The Number Two Seed Isn’t a Total Let Down For the Bears

The Chicago Bears have found themselves as the NFC North champions for the first time since 2018 after the Baltimore Ravens knocked off the Green Bay Packers in a cracker last night, and their quest to earn the number one seed in the NFC isn’t over yet. With two big games to go, the home advantage and first round bye is well in Chicago's sights, but sitting pretty as the second seed wouldn’t be completely the end of the world.

Right now the playoff picture has Seattle taking a week off come playoff season, and has the Bears as a close second, destined for a third matchup of the season against bitter rivals Green Bay. For Chicago, they got their own back against the Packers at Soldier Field with a statement comeback win, bringing the season series to 1-1 between the two, but if they met in the playoffs, it's a sure thing that the Bears faithful would fancy their chances against the Packers at home in the first round.

With Jordan Love’s return unsure, Micah Parsons out for the season, and the Packers looking like the are regressing as the weeks go by, the Bears have all the ammunition to take it to the Packers in the playoffs, and even though that number one seed would be the cherry on top of the cake, finishing as the number two seed would mean just another chance of putting down the Packers, and with how the rest of the NFC playoff candidates are looking right now, finishing second in the division is definitely where every team wants to be.
