Are Vegas Throwing Carter Hart In The Deep End?

Newly promoted Vegas Golden Knights goalie Carter Hart will make his first appearance in between the posts since the 2023/24 after spending time away from the game due to legal proceedings. He will make his NHL return against the Chicago Blackhawks, and it will prove to be a real test ahead of his seasonal debut.

For the Vegas Golden Knights, Carter Hart is a guy that they are hoping will return to form after such a long time away from the game, and a guy who they will be hoping will be a difference maker in the locker room and goalie tandem. Hart was once a very exciting prospect for the Philadelphia Flyers, and was a huge asset for Philly before taking time away. Now, he returns to the NHL with the promise that he can regain his form after a short stint with the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights, and is hoping to make a good impression ahead of his return.

Hart was a guy who when cleared to return to the NHL was one of the most sought after free agents on the market, and with how a lot of teams are looking in the goalie department, was somewhat of a diamond in the rough, waiting for somebody to take a chance on him. Firstly it was Edmonton who were rumoured to make a stab at Hart in the market due to their goalie issues, however eventually Vegas made the move to bring Hart in on a PTO, which led to him signing a one year deal, immediately being sent to the AHL in need of playing time. Now, Hart will face a hot Blackhawks team in his return to the league, and won’t be the easiest of tasks.

It is common knowledge by now that the Vegas Golden Knights are one of the best teams in the NHL, especially in the offensive department. They are a team who have the ability to outscore, and get their defense out of trouble often, and this may need to be the case tonight. Chicago came back from trailing 3-0 on Sunday night against a very solid Ducks team, and their dangerous offense will only look to take advantage of Hart in the net, and with how the Blackhawks treated Ville Husso the other night, the Hawks aren’t a team that a fresh goalie wants to face off against.

For Vegas and Hart, it is simply going to be a game of test, and a game they will be watching very closely upstairs. They took a big chance on Hart, and have put him up against a very hot offense to prove his worth. Whether the moment gets to him, nobody knows, but what is for sure is that Hart will have to be playing his best game possible, because Jeff Blashill’s Hawks won’t stop firing, and Hart is going to be the number one target.
