Zegras Proves He Wont Be Swept Under The Rug Yet

Eight points in eight games so far is exactly the statement Trevor Zegras wanted to make after joining the Philadelphia Flyers, and after a few years of being called every name under the sun, and his talent disregarded entirely, the former first overall pick is proving he won’t be shutdown just yet, and his fresh start in Philly is what he needed to get his career back on track.

A couple of good years in Anaheim came with a lot of criticism, backlash, and eventually came bad performances. Zegras is hands down one of the NHL’s most talented and skilled players, but by the time he reached the end of his time in Anaheim, that tremendous skill was only seen as a weakness to himself and his team, but now as a Flyer, that narrative has taken a full 180 turn.

After being traded away from a toxic environment in Anaheim, Zegras was a guy who nobody really knew what to make of the trade, and whether a fresh start in Philly is what he needed. Nevertheless, being a massive asset for Rick Tochett and the Flyers has proved the doubters wrong, and all he needed was some confidence and good coaching.

Playing on a line with yet another one of the best skilled players in the league Matvei Michkov, Zegras has formed partnerships that were hard to come by during his time in Anaheim, and his skill and glamorous play is inherited by fans and coaches, not shut down and criticised. Zegras, who has often been a guy who has been said to play the game the wrong way, is now proving he belongs in the NHL sphere, and proved how badly he was treated with the Ducks.

As a player who is headed towards a fresh contract year, he is doing everything he needs to earn his spot in Philly for a long time. Scoring goals, using his skill wisely and to his advantage to be a massive individual on an improving team, and with him only being as young as 24, his torrent blooming, and confidence rising only means more positives in the pipeline for a good looking Flyers team, and Trevor Zegras is showing the NHL world why he is going to be a big part of what is looking like a future force in Philadelphia.
