Following a statement win for the Warriors against the OKC Thunder on Wednesday, Golden State kept their playoff hopes alive, but still looked to strengthen their core before the trade deadline. Chicago Bulls guard Zach Lavine looks to be their number one target, but would he work in the Golden State?

Here’s how the Warriors could make it work.

The Warriors currently sit just below the play in tournament places in the standings, and have been looking for a big trade for a while to keep their playoff hopes, and to give the team one final push in the second half of the season. Star guards like Lamelo Ball, and De’ Aaron Fox have been some of the names pointing in Golden State’s direction, but the Chicago Bulls Zach Lavine looks to be their next big target.

The former 13th overall pick was one of the many players Chicago had on their trade block at the start of the season, but Lavine who went through a tricky year of injury issues was not one of many to be picked up. But halfway into the season, Lavine has impressed with a sensational turn around becoming one of the most attractive guards in the league, and being one of the biggest trade targets for a number of teams come the trade deadline. Lavine is currently averaging 24 points per game, and has a 51.1% fg percentage, with 13 over 30 point games, more than some of the league's biggest names like LeBron James and Steph Curry. But what exactly will Lavine bring to the Warriors, and how would they acquire him.

With Lavine finding his form once again, his trade value will have skyrocketed since the start of the season, and will cost the Warriors more than they had expected. At this point in the season, Lavine will cost the Warriors a premium, and would likely cost at least two first round picks and a handful of players. Andrew Wiggins, Podziemski and Moody are some of the names likely to be involved in a trade package for Lavine, and potentially the addition of Gary Payton II could sweeten the deal for Chicago.

Last week, Steph Curry emphasised how the Warriors often don't target big players at the deadline due to desperation, but after alleviating Klay Thompson of his duties in the off season, Curry has been shy of help and would prefer if the Warriors could pick up a big asset. But the question is how well would Lavine fit with Steph?

With Buddy Hield currently being the starting shooting guard for the Warriors, and only averaging 11.7 points and 1.6 assists, Lavine’s 24 ppg and 4.5 assists would help Curry out massively, and would not only benefit him and his production, but the rest of the Warriors roster and their production as a whole.

If the Warriors are prepared to make the trade, and willing to give up a hefty amount of players and capital, Zach Lavine is the perfect option, and could elevate their play and playoff chances massively.
