The Three Teams Who Should Trade For Myles Garrett

This afternoon, Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns shocked the sporting world again this week after he announced he will be seeking a trade this offseason in hope of joining a Super Bowl contender.

Garrett was tipped to be traded at the deadline during the 2024/25 season, but decided to stay put in Cleveland. But earlier today, he announced his desire to contend for the biggest prize of them all, the Super Bowl, and stated that although he will always love the city of Cleveland and their fans, he cannot stay there isn't in the best interests for his career.

With Garrett being the hottest piece on the block, here are the top three teams I think suit Myles Garrett the best in 2025.

The Atlanta Falcons

ree

The Falcons had another weird season in 2024, just missing out on the playoffs on the last day, while still being a pretty mediocre team. But with the addition of Garrett in the off season, he could be exactly what they need to get that extra push.

At the back end of last season, Atlanta decided to bench new QB Kirk Cousins who signed a $180 million deal with the Falcons for four years, but disappointed quickly. He was benched for Michael Penix Jr who Atlanta drafted with their 8th overall pick of the draft in 2024, and quickly shined in his debut. With that being said, and Kirk’s Atlanta tenure being over quicker than he thought, Cousins is perfect draft capital for a team like Atlanta, and could be an attractive asset to use in a trade.

With Cleveland likely granting Garrett’s request, Atlanta should waste no time, and pounce on the situation as soon as possible. With some great assets, and some decent draft capital, the Falcons definitely have enough to convince Cleveland, and in my opinion have a better chance than anyone to p[ick him up.

But not only do the Falcons have a proven quarterback to offer, but star tight end Kyle Pitts name has been floating around the trade scene for a while now, and could be a perfect piece to add to a trade package to sweeten the deal with Cleveland. With the Browns lacking quality in a lot of areas, and playing four different QB’s in 2024, Kirk Cousins, despite his massive contract could be the solution. With stars like Jerry Jeudy and David Njoku on the team, Kirk is a perfect veteran QB to take over in Ohio, and aside from a lack of quality this year, he can definitely find it again. Especially with the Browns likely to bite the bullet and dump Deshaun Watson this off season, Kirk could be a good replacement had they decide to pass up on Cam Ward or Sanders in the draft, and could also fleece some other assets like Pitts in the trade along with some draft picks.

So why would Atlanta be the perfect team to deal with for the Browns. For a player with Myles Garrett’s reputation, they can easily get a package worth at least two big players and a first round pick, or even just a haul of decent players and picks, But here’s the real reason it could work. Had they pick up Kirk Cousins in a trade with the Falcons, it would allow them the freedom to take Heisman winner Travis Hunter in the draft, a generational talent who will help them on both sides of the team, and improve the team massively from the get go. Had they acquire Pitts, and Cousins, or maybe some draft capital as well, it's a great fresh start opportunity for Cleveland, and for me, is 100% the best option for the Browns for their future, and for now.

The Los Angeles Rams

ree

Ever since Aaron Donald retired, the Rams have lacked the star veteran presence in their defensive line, a player who can really get at the quarterback, and cause massive problems for other teams, but Myles Garrett could be that guy.

A few years ago, the thought of Myles Garrett and Aaron Donald would be unheard of, and a dream for all Rams fans, but even now, with Donald gone, Myles Garrett has the opportunity to step up, and take the place of one of the greatest to ever do it, and lead the Rams to another Super Bowl.

I believe the Rams would be a good team for the Browns to deal with again because of the assets they have to offer. Similarly to Atlanta, the Rams may include QB Matt Stafford in a trade for a player like Garrett, as his future in LA is unsure, but could be a good move for both teams. With Satfford coming into the back end of his career being 36 years old, he hasn't quite got the ability to get his team over the line, and is starting to fade in many aspects of his game, making him a food trade candidate. But would the Browns want him? If the Browns decide to do this deal with LA, getting a veteran QB like Matt Stafford would definitely bring that leadership status back to Cleveland that has been missing, and would get them maybe a year or two of decent football during a rebuild period, before they move on.

Like we said before, the Browns are likely to utilise their 2nd overall pick on a quarterback in the draft, but here’s why the Stafford trade makes sense. Unlike Kirk Cousins, Stafford’s contract ends in 2027, giving the Browns about a year or two of Matt Stafford last bit of good football before moving on. Had the Browns select a QB in the draft, this would give Cleveland a perfect safety net, and a good period of time to develop a rookie quarterback, to be ready for the NFL, and not have the worries of being thrown in the deep end with the worst team in the league. I know it's a long shot, but giving a rookie QB a year or two can definitely help in the long term, and could be exactly what they need.

Of course the Browns won't just make a straight swap for Stafford, but the Rams could be willing to give up a few picks to get Garrett in, and really give a push for the Super Bowl once again. Most will think giving up Stafford is a bad idea because of the big hole left in the QB spot, but with some decent draft prospects, and some decent free agents on the horizon, it could be a good deal for the Rams to take.

The Washington Commanders

ree

The third and final team that I think Myles Garrett could fit in with is the Commanders. The main reason being Jayden Daniels. Who doesn't wanna play with him. The Commanders traded away both of their elite pass rushers in that woeful 2023 season, getting rid of Chase Young and Montez Sweat, but could they revitalise their pass rush, and give themselves the extra edge by bringing Myles Garrett in. Yes.

Differently to the other two teams, the Commanders will be reluctant to give anything major away. But draft picks could be their weapon of choice. Much like Dan Quinn’s style of play, the Commanders could risk it all this year, and trade away a lot, and I mean a lot of draft picks in reruns for Garrett, maybe even throw a receiver in there. For me, I think they do it. The Commanders are in a good enough spot right now to sacrifice some of their future, and should focus on some NOW players, and give themselves the best chance of success again this year.

The Commanders would arguably be the preferred place for Garrett, having proved they can make it all the way, and proved their team is more than good enough, I'm sure he would love to be there. With some already elite defensive players on their defense like Luvu and veteran Bobby Wagner, Myles Garrett just seems like a perfect fit in Washington, and is exactly what they need.

With Garrett being arguably the most consistently dangerous pass rusher in the game, Commanders fans would be licking their lips at the thought of him gearing up in a Commander's uniform, but some sacrifice will have to be made, to make their dream a reality.
