Dimitri Van Den Bergh after hitting a nine dart finish

UK Open Champion Dimitri Van Den Bergh, left out of the 2025 darts Premier League lineup.

After an amazing year of success and victories for 30 year old Belgian Dimitri Van Den Bergh, a spot in the darts Premier League lineup was looking nearer than ever, but after the lineup announcement on Monday, fans were left in shock to see the Belgian left out of the lineup.

2024 was arguably the most successful year for the Belgian, with 2 title wins, and a number of quarter final and semi-final appearances. During the 2024 calendar year, Dimitri started strong with a last 16 finish in the Dutch masters, and a semi-final finish in the Masters in which he lost to Michael Van Gerwen. Things were looking on the up for Dimitri headed into the next televised tournament, the UK open, in which he beat world champion Luke Humphries to win his first title of the year. Although following up his title win with some very underwhelming performances in the international tours, he managed to regain some form during the Nordic darts masters before going on to win his second title of the year, in the 12th player championships meeting of the year.

With a few more semi-finals and quarters in tournaments such as the world cup and the grand prix, Dimitri was putting up a good impression in order to potentially grab a spot in the premier league in 2025. But after the announcement on Monday, his absence has created a lot of unrest amongst darts fans. With players such as Nathan Aspinall and Gerwyn Price appearing in the premier league for another year, some have argued that Dimitri Van Den Bergh deserves the chance to play on the biggest stage over some of these household names, and should be given the opportunity to prove himself amongst the best of the best. Dim

itri certainly has the credibility to play in the PL, and looks like he could look to prove himself to the PDC elsewhere in the 2025 season.
