Recent reports believe Ruben Amorim has damaged a television in a furious display of critique following their 3-1 loss to Brighton on Sunday.

Amorim, who joined the club in November 2024 from Sporting Lisbon, has already began to have his say on Manchester United and their current state, and isn't holding back when it comes to being critical and realistic with the fans and his players. Following a disappointing home loss against Brighton on Sunday, a number of reports stated that Amorim damaged a large television in the home dressing room, as he furiously lashed out on his players. Previous to this, the former Lisbon boss has made a number of comments about his team taking responsibility, and giving the players and the fans the harsh truth, something barely any manager of Manchester United has done since Ferguson.

In a recent press conference, Amorim stated that ‘We are being the worst team in Manchester United history’ after being questioned on the lack of form in the Premier League after only winning two out of their last 10 games. Ever since Sir Alex Ferguson left Manchester United after 27 years, this recent press conference, and previous press conferences already in the Amorim era, have a sense of urgency, and reality compared to other managers of United in the past 12 years. With a clear lack of culture and voice within the dressing room at Man United, Amorim seems to be putting a lot of responsibility on the players, and is taking the harsh but realistic approach to how he is managing his team. With United possibly in their biggest slump of the last 12 years, Amorim is showing sign of what was once Ferguson’s culture in Manchester, and is being honest and real with the raucous Manchester United fanbase.

A good example of Amorim's player responsibility scheme is the current Marcus Rashford situation. Amorim seems to have a better understanding, and knowledge of the inner culture of Manchester United, and what it's like to play and coach the prestigious team. The new manager said ‘The only way for Marcus Rashford is to want it really bad’ and ‘(his future) really depends more from him than from me.’, and highlights how Amorim has brought back the meritocratic culture of Manchester United, and will be stern with his player, and will certainly not give out any freebies to those with status. With managers like Moyes, and Ten Haag failing to deal with tough player situations, Amorim is bringing back the system Ferguson tended to adopt within his squads, if you want a chance, you earn it.

With the recent antics in the locker room, some older fans have been getting flashbacks, and could possibly be good ones. The last time the Manchester United fans heard of a serious outbreak in the dressing room, was the infamous scuffle between Alex Ferguson and David Beckham, when Ferguson allegedly kicked a boot at Beckham, causing a nasty cut to his eye. Now I'm not saying Amorim is the new Ferguson, not at all, but I am saying it's clear the fight, hunger and passion is back within the Manchester United dressing room. It might sound silly, but some intensity and outbreak can be good when a squad lacks enthusiasm and belief, and Amorim could be using his passion and fury to encourage the team, and to get his point across that this is Manchester United, and they shouldn't be bossed around in their back garden.

So with the recent interesting interviews, outbreaks and some reality checks for Manchester United fans, Ruben Amorim could  finally be bringing the ‘Manchester United’ culture back, knowledge and understanding of the status and image of the team will help him restore the Manchester way back into Manchester United and his dressing room, with his harsh and ruthless approaches.
