The news of Justin Fields to the New York Jets just broke and has the Jets fan base divided. But have the Jets made a sneaky good deal here?

The Jets have had their fair share of qb struggles over the last decade or two, but with Justin Fields heading to the Big Apple, the Jets may have finally made a game-changing signing. The signing comes with a two year deal of $40 million overall with $30 million guaranteed, some saying it's a massive overpay. But in the current qb market the NFL possesses today, $20 million AAV for a player of Fields' quality in a team which has a long history of bad quarterbacks may have been a completely overlooked deal of free agency.

Fields hasn't seen the field much since he left Chicago, but with some decent performances with the Steelers last year, and a decent highlight reel from his time in Chicago, Justin Fields at $20 million may be a sneaky good deal for the Jets.

With not much space for error in the Jets front office, securing a player like Fields in free agency instead of banking on yet another average draft prospect or an old veteran, the Jets may have secured their quarterback to finally get them back on a good track. Fields joined the Jets with a pretty decent offensive core with Garett Wilson had he stayed, and Breece Hall, but with his dual threat ability in the air and on the ground, he may find his home in New York after a pretty rocky ride in the national league since his draft year.

Being a fan favourite in Chicago for his exciting and exhilarating rushing plays, and a reliable source of passing and rushing for the Steelers, the Jets may have potentially made a really good deal. Not sacrificing a major chunk of cap space, but getting a good quarterback who definitely has the potential and the ability to be great and change the culture in New York may become one of the best overlooked reals in this year's NFL free agency.
