NBA and New York Knicks legend Carmelo Anthony has reportedly been inducted into the 2025 NBA Hall Of Fame as a first baloney inductee according to Shams Charania. The former NBA scoring champion announced his retirement almost two years ago, and has now become one of the youngest players to be inducted as a first ballot selection.
Alongside his former team USA teammate Dwight Howard as the finalists to be inducted into the HOF, Carmelo was 100% a lock for his induction, and has a career of mind blowing credentials. Melo played for six different teams in the NBA across 19 seasons after being drafted by the Denver Nuggets in 2003, but cemented his place as one of the NBA’s greatest ever players after his time in New York.
Despite never receiving the honour of becoming an NBA champion, Melo is a 10 time NBA All-Star, winning the title of All-Star seven seasons in a row during his time in New York. With the Big Apple cam big achievements for Melo, a 2013 NBA scoring champion, a USA basketball male athlete of the year in 2016, and his number 15 retired by Syracuse in 2013.
Melo also showed why he is one of the greatest in the history of the game winning four gold medals for his country on the Olympic stage. But it isn't just his career achievements that have earned him his spot. Averaging 22.5 points per game during his career, and over 28,000 career points, Carmelo’s flash, amazing shooting, passing, and playmaking, combined with his charisma, image, and impact on the game shows why he is a first ballot inductee.
