It isn't often that the starting quarterback at the University of Georgia ends up regressing in their careers, but in Carson Beck’s career, this is exactly what happened. But, his move down to the south east coast, taking over Cam Ward’s spot as starting QB in Miami may be the perfect place for his career to get back on track, or at least he hopes it will.

It is no doubt that during his college career in Georgia that Carson Beck was a stud, but one thing he couldn't kick last year was his turnover problem. Even though he managed to improve his production for the Bulldogs, passing for a career high 28 touchdowns, he just about doubled his interception tally from his previous six in 2023, to 12 in 2024. Turnovers were never an issue for Beck during his first year as a starter, but more interceptions and sacks were creeping into his game, and the eventual transfer to Miami was likely a way to escape the noise and attempt to reignite his career.

Beck, who now heads to Miami as a senior, is currently the second highest paid player in terms of NIL valuation. Earning an estimate of $4.3 million for his likely short time in Miami was a major talking point when he signed, most believing he was not worth the money after surpassing the likes of Jeremiah Smith and Cade Klubnik. Nevertheless, Miami clearly see something in Beck in order to award him with such a salary, but it is what he is going to be working with that is on his mind in his draft year.

Last year's draft was probably the desired class for Beck, battling against a rather weak QB class to earn himself first round honours, but the rapid turnaround in his season halted that decision, the 2026 draft being the likely target next. With a solid receiving core of emerging tight end Elija Lofton, young wide receivers like Ray Ray Joseph, Ny Carr, and Joshisa Trader, Beck will definitely have the chance to rework his aerial game, and he has the perfect group of players to correct his craft.

It will be no easy task for Beck to immediately return to his elite game, and it will not be an instant task for him to start battling with the likes of Drew Allar, Cade Klubnik and Garrett Nussmeier, but one step at a time, at a very prestigious organisation, the decrease in overall pressure and burden is exactly what Carson Beck needs to return to first round status, and as the number one guy for the Hurricanes, Beck has every chance to turn his career right back around.
