Although Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are the stars of the show in Edmonton’s 3-1 lead over Dallas, once outcast and former benched goalie Stuart Skinner is proving his worth, and might just continue to impress on his redemption tour through to the finals.

With a replay of last year's finals on the horizon, and both Edmonton and Florida heating up at the right time, each team's goalies are also kicking right into gear when they are called upon the most. But as Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner limited the Stars to only two goals in their last three games including one shutout, Skinner is proving how valuable he really is to Edmonton after a shaky round one start.

But as far as the Conn Smythe MVP award goes, could Skinner really be in for a chance at the glory after his horrific start? It would be silly to rule him out just yet. Sitting at a +8500 in the betting pool as the 12th favourite to win the Conn Smythe, his performances from round two to three have definitely been MVP worthy. Not only has his shutouts, and massive saves been the decider for Edmonton over the last couple of games, but his redemption story alone would be enough to consider him as one of Edmonton’s most valuable players.

As unlikely as it is that Skinner will earn Conn Smythe glory at the end of the playoffs had the Oilers win the Stanley Cup, his value on the Oilers wont go unnoticed. Behind McDavid and Draisaitl, Skinner has arguably been the most important player for the Oilers, and has always been there during the time of need during Edmonton’s defensive woes. Despite falling short last year, Skinner has heard nothing but criticism all year, and a push for the Conn Smythe is exactly what he is trying to prove.

With his name well and truly in the hat, Skinner definitely has a fighting chance at the Conn Smythe had their Oilers cross the line, but unfortunately behind McDavid and Draisiatl, his heroics and redemption journey probably won't be enough to win the MVP, but will definitely be remembered and recognised.
