Sidney Crosby, once the heir to the throne of the great Mario Lemieux has had 20 amazing years in the NHL, lacing up in the black and yellow of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and as a new era, and a new dawn is upon the Penguins franchise, Crosby has a big decision on his hands. Go down with the sinking Penguins ship, or flee, and go for Stanley Cup glory one last time, ending his career in style, not despair.

It is no secret that next season the Pittsburgh Penguins will be one of, if not the worst team in the NHL, and will be well in the sweepstakes for generational talent Gavin McKenna. And although this could mean Crosby would finally fulfil Lemieux's legacy of being a mentor in Pittsburgh, it would make more sense for a player like Sid to go for glory for one last time, and put his legacy, and feelings aside. Leaving Pittsburgh will do no harm for Crosby, and will only be a temporary sting for fans, but whether he wants to taste glory once again before his time is up, is a massive decision to make now.

Much like the Patrick Kane situation in Chicago around three years ago, the Penguins may not give Crosby a chance to stay a Penguin for life, and may move him purely for their tanking reasons. But, differently to the Kane situation, it is likely only a one year thing for Sid the kid, and won't be as tough as it has been for Chicago fans to see Kane represent another jersey. So, at the end of the day, Pittsburgh may feel it is their duty to give their greatest ever player a chance at winning it all once again, and it would probably be in his best interests to go out and win again.

Crosby has always looked like a guy who would stick it out with Pittsburgh his entire career, but rumours, and circumstances may mean otherwise. Colorado, Montreal, and Toronto have all been teams who have been mentioned as his next destination, and this season it could be a reality. We all know Crosby is one of the best players, but also one of the best people in the NHL, but it is time to be ruthless, it is time for a big jump, and a time to get back to his best, and go for what he really wants to end his career. Whether it is MacKinnon, or Matthews, Crosby needs to be back in the playoffs, not just for the fans, but for himself, Crosby needs one last shot.
