Trade talk surrounding the Anaheim Ducks outcast Trevor Zegras has been circulating all day, but the news that a deal agreed between Anaheim and Philadelphia means a NHL favourite friendship will be rekindled in Philly.
Long time best buds Trevor Zegras and Jamie Drysdale were having the times of their lives in Anaheim, forming a friendship the NHL world just couldn't hate, and after Drysdale was traded to Philadelphia last season in a trade involving the controversial Cutter Gauthier, Zegras who was already being criticised in Anaheim lost a great friend, making his time in Anaheim that little bit worse. But now, after a trade involving a 2nd round pick this year, and a 4th round pick next year, and Ryan Poehling, Zegras will reunite with Drysdale in Philly, and will be a massive morale booster for the improving Flyers.
Zegras’ trade out of Anaheim was imminent, and was talked about for months, even dating back to last seasons trade deadline, but it is safe to say the former first round pick has had somewhat of a say in this decision, and reuniting with one of his best friends, on top of earning a fresh start in a great hockey city which now has some beaming talent, this is a great move on all fronts by Philadelphia.
The friendship on and off the ice is exactly what Philadelphia needs, and as big as a bond these two have could be exactly what they need to bring some morale and zip back to the dressing room. Now, alongside his friend and a new set of players, hopefully Zegras can return to the form, and find the potential he once had, and in his new home on the east side can live up to the hype people have been talking about for years. A great move for both, but most importantly, the return of one of the NHL’s most loved friendships.
