Where Could Sacha Boisvert End Up?

Earlier today when the NCAA hockey transfer portal opened, one name caught people’s eyes in particular, NCHC rookie of the year and Blackhawks elite prospect Sacha Boisvert. Amongst 110 other players who have already entered this year's transfer portal, Boisvert will be one of the most highly regarded prospects for teams in the NCAA, and could be on his way to a very prestigious team already.

As the NCAA playoffs come to an end, teams like Minnesota, Michigan and Michigan State, and Denver will be looking to add more talent to their rosters during the recycle period. One team who will definitely consider Boisvert this year, is the Minnesota Gophers. Losing some key offensive players after their unlucky first round exit like Oliver Moore and Jimmy Snuggerud will mean a big overhaul in players this season, and players like Boisvert will definitely be on their radar this year.

But apart from team desires, it is without a doubt the Blackhawks will play a massive part in deciding where the power forward will commit to in order to develop. Initially when Boisvert committed to North Dakota, the decision to commit to such a prestigious and well run team was a big plus for Chicago, but with the NCHC rookie of the year looking to move on to bigger and better things, and to take the next step in his journey, the Blackhawks may have a much bigger influence on his choices.

The Blackhawks have had a good recent history of utilising the college level development to blossom some of their best up and coming prospects. Oliver Moore and Sam Rinzel from Minnesota, Landon Slaggert from Notre Dame, and Frank Nazar from Michigan, and Boisvert could be the next to hit the NCAA Big Ten, and see some much needed collegiate development as he nears his inevitable NHL debut.

Although, with some of their best developed players like Alex Vlasic and Ryan Greene committing to non Big Ten programmes like Boston University, the choices will be vast for Boisvert. Although the Blackhawks take careful consideration into the right collegiate programmes needed for their prospects, it is likely Boisvert commits to a Big Ten programme in the portal, and had he be poached by a team like Minnesota or Denver, it is no question the Blackhawks will deny him the opportunity to develop in some of the best college teams in the country.
